Announcing Support from BiPVCo Solar

The Into Thin Air team are very pleased to announce the support of BIPVco (Newport) who manufacture the innovative Flextron solar photovoltaic mat. The Flextron solar mats will be placed on the roof of each of the three expedition trucks and, in the clear air of the Atacama, will charge reserve batteries by day which will then power all the expedition electronic equipment.

Daniel Pillai, the co-founder of BIPVco said that his company are very pleased to be supporting the team and thereby helping to fulfil the primary expedition objective to demonstrate that remote expeditions over challenging terrain can be achieved by using a full carbon-mitigation strategy. The team is very grateful to Daniel and BIPVco for their generous support

Announcing Two New Team Members

The Into Thin Air expedition are happy to announce that we now have a full team of six. We were joined in the summer by Rebecca March and Kathryn Cordiner who both bring considerable experience in remote and challenging travel as well as organisational and operational skills.

We are now up to full strength as a team and look forward to training and working together to enable our challenging and significant expedition.

Expedition to the Atacama and high arid areas of Chile and Bolivia

The primary objective of the expedition is to demonstrate that remote and challenging vehicle-based expeditions can be accomplished using a cleaner, carbon mitigating strategy.

• The primary objective is defined as follows:

•To cross the Atacama and other arid regions of Chile and Bolivia by using off-road tracks o To employ a feasible carbon mitigating strategy by using bio-mass fuel and solar energy to power the vehicles and equipment respectively

•To engage in data collection for research into the human impact on atmospheric and ground pollutants in the desert regions of eastern South America.

•To engage with the local communities and industry to promote the use of renewable fuels and resources

Into Clean Air Secures High Technology Solar Energy Mats

We are proud to announce that the Into Clean Air expedition has been sponsored by BipvCo Solar (https://bipvco.com) (Newport) who are donating the next-generation technology solar transducing mats that will power all the electronic equipment. This is a big step in the expedition cementing their en route carbon mitigating strategy and we would like to thank BipvCo for their involvement and donation.

Into Clean Air Expedition gets Biofuel Boost!

The Into Clean Air: Atacama desert expedition 2025 expedition is committed to a carbon mitigation strategy en route. A significant part of this will be to source biomass diesel (biofuel) to power the three vehicles. We are very happy to announce the cooperation of the UK Embassies in Chile and Madrid who are helping us to source the biofuel in each respective country
